Welcome to the 3rd edition of the HyperMadden Power Rankings! This will cover the first half of our third season. I hope you all enjoy!

32. Miami Dolphins (0-6)

The Dolphins are one of only two winless teams and it doesn’t look like they’re about to change that. They have a tough matchup against the Broncos who are better than their 2-4 record says. They have no owner at the moment so it will be a tough road going forward.

31. Indianapolis Colts (0-7)

The Colts are now in rebuilding mode and are trying to build the roster from the ground up. It all started when they shipped Andrew Luck off in a trade with Washington during the offseason. They’ve got a rough stretch of games coming up against the Ravens, Jaguars, and Texans with a bye in the middle of that 4 week period. They have a good amount of picks for this draft so they will be looking forward to the offseason.

30. Tenessee Titans (1-5)

The Titans are in a similar spot to the Colts as they are rebuilding also. Ever since their Week 1 victory against the Colts, they have lost five in a row. Rumor has it that they are open to moving on from former second overall pick Marcus Mariota and are ready to start over at the quarterback position. We’ll have to see if Mariota can prove he is worth keeping down the stretch.

29. Chicago Bears (1-6)

The Bears have gone through a lot of change this season with their ownership. They finally now have gotten a stable owner who looks like they’re here to stay. They have had a rough start to the season and may be out of playoff contention in a strong conference but this is a stacked roster that can win tons of games, especially if they find a star this year in the draft with what should be a top 15 draft pick.

28. New York Jets (1-5)

Although the Jets are 1-5, this season is different than the past two. All of they’re losses have been within one possession and with one more strong offseason, they should be able to compete at a high-level next season. They got a bye last week to rest up for a big divisional game against New England which is a start of a rough 4 game stretch against the Patriots, Bengals, Chiefs, and Bills. If they can stay competitive in these games and maybe win some of them, the future is bright.

27. San Diego Chargers (1-5)

The Chargers got a new owner in the offseason and they are one of many teams who played better than their record. They have been competitive in all of their games except one. Once the new owner gets a roster he likes in place, the Chargers will be primed to compete in the AFC.

26. Los Angeles Rams (2-4)

The Rams have struggled with a hard schedule this season. They’ve played good football in some games but struggled in others. They have gotten through the majority of the elite teams on their schedule and after their bye, it gets much better. They can make a run here and maybe be an underdog to make the playoffs if they play more consistent football.

25. Oakland Raiders (2-4)

The Raiders are in a much better position this year than they were last year. They are 2-4 and are coming off a great team win against the Dolphins. They host the Chargers this week and if they can get a win here, they’ll be 3-4 and only a game or two back behind the Chiefs for the division. I could see them as a darkhorse team to be in the playoffs if they win their essential games.

24. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4)

After making the playoffs and winning the NFC South last season, the Buccaneers haven’t played up to the same standards. They played great football a few weeks back when they beat the Vikings and they need that team to show up every Sunday. The NFC is stacked this season with over half of the conference having a chance to compete for a playoff spot and the Bucs need to start winning soon if they want to make it back to the playoffs for the second season in a row.

23. Philadelphia Eagles (2-4)

The Eagles are another NFC team that has been given the curse of having a really hard schedule to start out. They have held their own against some of the top teams in the league but haven't been able to close out some games. They’re two weeks removed from stunning the Seahawks and handing them their first loss of the season. They have a really good Washington team coming up this week and after that, the games don’t get much easier.

22. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4)

The Jaguars have a great roster and they are just as dangerous as anyone as a CPU controlled team. They’re this low on the list just because #FuckWellar.

21. Denver Broncos (2-4)

The Broncos are playing good football this season but things aren’t always going their way. They have been competitive in almost all of their games and played close against some of the best teams in the AFC. They have a chance to make a run as their schedule opens up with some easier games and should be able to compete for a division title.

20. Kansas City Chiefs (4-3)

After a hot 3-0 start to the season, the Chiefs have slowed down. They have had two rough losses in a row and have a good Falcons team coming up before the bye. They have to be careful as the Broncos and the Raiders aren’t far behind them and are gaining some momentum. This division race will be very interesting and fun to watch.

19. San Francisco 49ers (4-3)

Another division winner from last season that seemed to have slow down are the 49ers. They have been really inconsistent this season and have the feel of an 8-8 team. The 49ers defense has still been pretty good and their offense has improved. They’re a team playing on a first-place schedule against some of the best guys in the league and the Seahawks are starting to run away with the division, so they have to start being more consistent.

18. Arizona Cardinals (4-3)

The Cardinals have been a lot better than they were last year and are playing more like a playoff team. They have been a bit inconsistent, but they have played good teams. Their schedule does get a lot harder though, as after their bye week, they have a rough stretch to end the season.

17. New England Patriots (3-4)

The Patriots had a rough start to the season, but they have gone 3-2 in their last five games.

They had a heartbreaking loss to the Bills last week in which they lost on a game winning touchdown by the Bills offense as time expired. They still have a chance to win this AFC East if they can win their divisional games and catch up to Buffalo who has a two-game lead on them at the moment.

16. Washington Redskins (2-5)

The Redskins are my highest ranked team with a losing record and could be higher. They have lost all of their games within 3 points and have won two games in a row. They have one of the best offenses in the NFL and they are starting to get a lot of momentum. They have to get ready for what will be a great game against Dallas in Week 10. If they can pull off the upset, and maybe run the table, they can make a run for the playoffs.

15. Buffalo Bills (4-3)

The Bills are coming off an absolute classic win against the Patriots. Now they have a really tough game against the 6-1 Seahawks. If they can pull off a win here, it shows they are serious Superbowl contenders, but if they lose New England is right behind them to steal the division.

14. Atlanta Falcons (3-3)

The Falcons have played amazing football the past few weeks and look like a playoff team. Their offense is clicking right now and they have a chance to prove they’re a real contender in the next few weeks as they have a brutal next 4 games all against teams that should make the playoffs. If they can make a statement here, they will show they have a shot to win the Superbowl.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3)

The Steelers were 4-1 just two weeks ago, but they have lost two rough games in a row. They get a much-needed rest during the bye this week but they now need to get ready for Cincinnati in Week 10 in what could be a must-win game to ensure the Bengals don't run away with the division lead.

12. Cleveland Browns (4-3)

After a shocking 0-2 start, the Browns finally seem to be back to their normal selves. They’ve been 4-1 since week 3 losing only to the Ravens. They currently have the seventh seed in the AFC and are a game back from Pittsburgh and Baltimore but if they keep playing at this level, they should be able to fight it out for one of the wildcard spots.

11. New Orleans Saints (4-2)

The Saints hold the seventh seed in the NFC and have to keep on winning if they want to make it to the playoffs in a stacked NFC. They have a really hard schedule coming up and have to try and prevent the Panthers to start and gain a big lead on the division.

10. Houston Texans (4-3)

Similar to the Browns, the Texans started the season off 0-2 and have now started to look like the team that went 15-1 last season. With the Jaguars no longer having an owner, they should have an easier path than most with their division. They don’t have the hardest schedule coming up which will work in their favor. If they can gain some momentum into the playoffs and maybe get a first-round bye, they will be dangerous when the playoffs come around.

9. Green Bay Packers (4-2)

The Packers represented the NFC in the Superbowl last season, and they have not missed a beat after losing to the Jaguars. They have one of the best defenses in the league and play through their defense. They have to be wary of the other teams at the top of the NFC as we have some new faces leading the charge in the conference. They end the season in Detroit against the 5-1 Lions and that game could determine who wins the NFC North.

8. Minnesota Vikings (6-2))

The Vikings are a well-rounded team that plays both good offense and defense. They have taken down some of the best teams in the league and are looking to make their first playoff appearance after narrowly missing out last season. They have a lot of momentum and they currently hold the sixth seed and will have to fight hard to keep it.

7. Baltimore Ravens (5-2)

After missing the playoffs last season with an 11-5 record, the Ravens are out looking for revenge and they are playing great right now. They are a game behind the Bengals and still have to play them twice. Winning those games and getting a first-round bye will be key to them making a return to the Superbowl.

6. Seattle Seahawks (6-1)

The Seahawks came out of nowhere this season after being near the bottom of the league last season. They are led by their defense, which ranks fifth in the league. This team is an example that defense will win you games. They have had a fairly easy schedule so far, but if they can win against some of the better teams in the NFC later in the season they’ll prove they are a real contender.

5. Carolina Panthers (6-1)

One of the best stories in the league so far this season is the Panthers. They were 2-14 last season and had the worst record in the league. They have completely turned that around this year and are now 6-1 and look like they are about to make a deep run in the playoffs. They’ve played great in every game so far and have proven that they’re a good team.

4. Detroit Lions (5-1)

Another team that no one expected to be at the top of the league come this time of year is the Lions. They had a rough year last season and have completely turned it around. They have quality wins against some of the best guys in the league and look like they may be able to run away with the division title.

3. Dallas Cowboys (5-2)

For the first time, the Cowboys are not ranked #1 in the power rankings. Although they are 5-2, they are still the dangerous team they always were and one of the best in the league. They have only lost to the two teams ahead of them, the Bengals and the Giants who are both great teams and have dominated their competition. It’ll be interesting to see if they can beat the Giants later down the stretch and reclaim the division.

2. Cincinnati Bengals (6-1)

The Bengals are similar to the Panthers in that they were at the bottom of the league last season. The Bengals have now turned their franchise around and are the best team in the AFC. They have beaten all of their opponents except for the Steelers, who they lost too in a close game in which the Steelers came back later.

1. New York Giants (6-0)

The Giants are the only undefeated team left this season and it looks like they have a chance to go 16-0. They are one of the only teams who has figured out how to defeat the Cowboys and they have a chance to gain a big lead in the division and get their first division title. They’ve played great on both sides of the ball and are an early Superbowl favorite.
